TriDot Pool SchoolAbout
I am by nature a scientist and physiologist and extend this background to my coaching. This is why I am so intrigued and impressed by the A.I. imbedded within TriDot. I see this technology as a game-changer when combined with the right coach, bringing accountability to the training along with support in every area of the sport (nutrition, strength, sports psychology, swim-run-bike technique analyses, adaptations to training for life stressors/travel/fatigue, transition optimization, injury prevention/management, and how to bring and maintain fun in your training lifestyle).
Philosophy
I personally feel that triathlon brings balance and joy into my life, and I want my athletes to feel the same way. If you don't love to train and race, you are doing something wrong and you need to do some soul searching on why you are a triathlete. I want to know how my athletes are feeling every day through either the TriDot App comments or training peaks. This allows me to follow my athletes with every single workout and catch and resolve problems (e.g. illness, injury, fatigue) prior to them becoming limiting. I am a believer that each athlete is far more capable then they thought imaginable, and my goal is to help them achieve their ultimate goals in the sport.

Experience
I am an IronmanU Certified Coach and master's triathlete with over 20 years of experience in the sport and 14 Ironman Hawaii podium finishes, including 2 World Championship age group titles. With my background as a Professor, veterinary surgeon and PhD physiologist, I have always had a strong interest in the physiology of sport and the prevention of injury. I am recently transitionally retired (working 2 days/wk) and now expanding my capacities toward triathlon coaching. My specialty is improving performance on the bike (I am a cat 2 cyclist) to set my athletes up for a strong run and I am well-versed in riding and running with power as well as heart rate based training. I also have the tools to make game-changing improvements in your swim stroke through video analysis (and EO swim bands if local). I request that my athletes ideally have both a Training Peaks account in addition to utilizing the TriDot platform for monitoring of performance and fitness levels although I am flexible with athlete preferences. I view coaching as an enjoyable activity and not as a job, simply because I love helping athletes achieve their goals and reach their athletic potential. I am happily married to another triathlete, so triathlon is a lifestyle for me and not just a hobby, and I love to help instill that healthy lifestyle and love for the sport in all of my athletes.
