Gene got into endurance sports later in life. He has enjoyed competing in 5k's, 10k's, a dozen half marathons and three marathons. In 2018 he competed in his first triathlon and was hooked. He had the privilege of competing in the USAT Sprint Nationals in 2023 and loves sharing the sport with others. He helped a triathlete with his training for the Louisville 70.3 in 2024. This triathlete finished well with no injuries. Gene is looking forward to working with triathletes who want to compete at a high level while minimizing injuries. He and his wife Laurie live in Lincoln, NE. They have two grown kids and two girls at home, 14 & 17.
Philosophy
I believe in getting to know each athlete before we start training together. Everyone is different and the training needs to be customized to each athlete's needs. We are on a journey together all the way to the finish line and beyond.

Accomplishments
I have had the privilege of competing in over 12 half marathons and three marathons. Competing in the 2023 USAT Sprint Nationals gave me a better perspective in what is possible in this sport. I continue to grow in my expertise as part of a Coaches Mastermind Group devoted to helping each coach maximize their skills to better serve their athletes.
Experience
I have been coaching runners and triathletes over the years and helping them getting to the finish line injury free. I have immersed myself in triathlon in recent years to better serve my athletes, including being an ESCI Certified Coach and completing TriDot Pool School. Using my knowledge of proper workouts, strength training, nutrition, rest , etc., I help my athletes maximize their potential while minimizing injuries.
