ESCI Level 1About
Hello! I'm Kat, a UK-based triathlon coach. I work with both beginner triathletes and top end Age Groupers competing at international level. I am a mum of 2 young children and understand the juggle of life very well! I make training bespoke to you, the time you have and your goals so that it is challenging but realistic and brings you health and happiness. I love triathlon and it's my aim that everyone I coach develops that same love for training and the sport of triathlon too.
Philosophy
I believe in working closely with the athlete to develop a realistic plan - one that is both challenging but achievable for their available time and family/work/social commitments. In order to work closely I want regular feedback from my athletes, and in turn I am always available to respond to queries. I am an empathetic person - with 2 young children and a job I know what it's like to fit training around a busy life. Underscoring my coaching is that I want it to be fun and be a way of life, not a chore that you are ticking off. I have a personal interest in nutrition and have a university grade qualification achieved with Distinction, along with an interest in female health especially around the menopause.
Credentials
British Triathlon Level 2 Diploma Mac Nutrition Uni nutrition degree Biological Sciences Honours Degree Ironman coach certified Level 3 PT • Bilingual — English/English/British
Accomplishments
My own triathlon results include racing for GB age group at sprint/olympic and middle distance and achieving World and European medals. I have competed in full distance at Challenge Roth with a time of 10.15 hours. Currently i am back racing sprint distance with the GB age group team and most recently came 3rd at the Europeans in Vichy. I also compete in Masters swimming and am currently ranked 4th nationally in the 200m breaststroke in my AG.
Experience
With a background as a national level swimmer in my youth I moved to triathlon 15 years ago and then into coaching 14 years ago when I realised the passion I had for triathlon. My triathlon career has taken me to AG Worlds podiums, 70.3 podiums and a 10.15 IM at Challenge Roth. Alongside the triathlon coaching I have a big interest in the nutrition side of things and have achieved nutrition qualification post-university; and with my science background I enjoy studying and keeping up to date with current research and coaching trends. Mum of 2, ex swimmer, passionate triathlete, sports-lover.
