ESCI Level 1About
I am a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and earned Airborne and Ranger qualifications during my 11 year military career. I started competing in triathlons in 1984. After finishing the 1988 Ironman Europe, I took a break from competing to focus on family and my professional career. In 2008, I returned to the sport to balance my life and the stress of being a business executive. Since my return to the sport, I have competed in 10 World Championship events including the Ironman World Championship in Kona; finished 20 Ironman races making the podium three times, finished over 100 Ironman 70.3 distance events with numerous podium finishes, and raced internationally in 12 countries.
Philosophy
For age group athletes, training needs to be fun and work into their life balance. I focus heavily on mechanics of each sport as efficiency is key to improving speed and endurance. While I hold to the position that endurance athletes need miles, I balance that position with quality over quantity of training.
